Art Club at the Coleman Center for the Arts (CCA) is an opportunity for area youth to build skills in visual thinking and gain pre-college experience in a safe and alternative space. Participating students have a chance to develop their talents as artists and problem-solvers as they take on new projects each semester. All students between the ages of 13 and 18 are welcome!

Students participating in Art Club during the fall of 2011 will learn the history and process of stop-motion animation. During the first half of the semester, students will watch examples of feature-length and short stop-motion films. Each film will inspire conversations and lessons on key components of film-making such as story-telling, planning, design, light, sound, humor, etc. During the second half of the semester, students will work as a group to complete a final project. In December 2011, the Coleman Center will present to the public a screening of the work completed by students in Art Club.

Art Club will take place every Thursday from 4 to 6 PM beginning September 8 to December 8th. Art Club is offered to participants free of charge, and all materials are provided. Students are also served a healthy snack as a part of every session!

To sign up please download this form and return it to the Coleman Centet for the Arts' office at 608 Avenue A in York by September 6th at 5 pm.
